Our Story
Ormsby is an old English name, a village that has stood without announcement for centuries. That is the spirit of what we make.
We make bags for women who have stopped needing to explain their taste. Who moved past labels when they realised labels were for other people's benefit. Who want one thing, made properly, that will still be beautiful in twenty years.
Ormsby is not a reaction to fast fashion. It is simply indifferent to it. We have always believed that the right object, made with patience and care, does not need a trend to justify its existence.
We work with a small number of craftspeople who share our intolerance for shortcuts. Nothing here is rushed. Every piece is made with skill and time, the two things a proper bag cannot do without. The leathers are selected slowly. The construction is done by hand. The finishes are tested over time, not to a schedule.
On Scarcity
"We make fifty-six pieces per drop. Not because we cannot make more, but because we choose not to."
Every bag is numbered. Each piece is the last of its kind, and once a drop closes it is never reissued. This is deliberate scarcity, not manufactured hype. It is the difference between a product and an object.
On Craft
Each bag is made by hand, by people who have given years to the work. Skill cannot be hurried and time cannot be faked. The hardware is minimal. The stitching is double. The lining is considered. There is no detail too small to matter.
